6 Two Ways to Recertify… Recertification Units (RU): Obtain a minimum of 18 RU’s within the 3 year recertification period Examination: Sit for the exam. Required if your certification is outside of the 6 month grace period.

7 You only need 18 RU credits - over 3 years!!  Recertification Units (RU) are professional activities that increase your BOK knowledge or that are job enhancing.  Credits earned through: Employment Professional Development seminars, workshops and conferences Education Society Involvement!

8 Recertification Credits  Employment  10.8 RU’s for 3 Years Full Time Prorated for Part Time  Must be relevant to the pertaining certificate’s BOK  Documentation verifying Job Title, Duties, Dates of Employment, FT/PT Status

9 Recertification Credits  Professional Development  0.1 RU Per Hour (Up to 9 RU’s)  Relevant to BOK or Job Enhancing  ASQ Conferences/Events/Courses 1 RU per Day  Company sponsored in-house courses  College courses  Webinars and Workshops

10 Recertification Credits  Professional Development Documentation  Proof of Attendance AND Activity Description  Conference Badge  Certificate of Completion  If no RU or CEU specified, must include documentation of duration

11 Recertification Credits  ASQ Meetings  0.3 RU Per Meeting  0.3 RU per Meeting Clinic  Up to 9 RU’s  Save Meeting Receipts

12 Recertification Credits  Society Involvement  Committee member 2.0 RU/Year for Elected 1.5 RU/Year for Appointed  Officer (national, division, section)  Exam Proctor  Publish  Teach

13 Recertification Credits  Certifications  2.0 RU for new ASQ Certification  1.0 RU for new non-ASQ Certification  NOTE: For Newly earned Certifications in the Recertification Period

14 Save Your Documentation (Start a File)  Documents to save (examples): Past/present employment verification letters and letters from clients (self-employed) ASQ meeting attendance receipts Training records (proof of participation) Instructor records for courses taught Letters of service on ASQ committees Conference Badges and Receipts Published Articles (including date)

15 When to Submit  Deadline: Submit recertification package before 6 month grace period expires!!!!  Submit recertification between six months before and six months after Recert Due date  All RU’s must be completed by Recert Due date for the certification  Early submission does not change start date for next certification RU’s.

Certification numbers; Member Number 2. Contact Info 3. Fill in your Payment Info 4. Sign and date the form ( Payment and Applicant ) 4. Provide PDF scan (preferred) or copies of your RU evidence…No originals!

18 What to Submit  Journal Application Summary Page  COPIES of objective evidence supporting 18 RU’s claimed  Only need 18 RU’s to recertify Reminder to include: 1. ASQ payment 2. Phone/email contact information 3. Your signature and date! ( Payment and Applicant Signature!! )

21 Synchronizing Your Certifications (Paper Only)  Submit recertification package for the certification expiring earliest  Due dates for all other certifications will be aligned with this one.  Only 18 RU’s required for all synchronized certifications  Must be submitted to Recertification Chair

22 Synchronizing Your Certifications  Members: $89 for ALL Certificates  Include all Certification Numbers and Expiration Dates to be synchronized in Recertification Application  Membership Cost  Organizational Membership = Membership Pricing for all Employees

25 Retire your Certification… o Must be fully retired from active employment and at least 55 o Certification will be left in “good standing” o Certification will not be deleted from ASQ Records o Certificate can be reinstated o Complete details online http://asq.org/cert/retirement

26 Pro Tips  ASQ Sponsored Conferences, Courses, Trainings, Meetings, … generally provide receipt and list RU’s  ASQ Sponsored Activities generally earn 1.0 RU per day (vs 0.1 per hour for non-ASQ activities)  Non-ASQ Activities Accepted, but must document Description and Times

27 Pro Tips  Certifications always expire on June 30 or December 31  Put reminders on your calendar  Only need 18 RU’s to recertify  View Status Online
