9 INTERVIEW WITH OLIVER ANDERSON Q: How do you think your experience as a student veteran is different from the typical ECU student? A: Being older than the majority of the students in my classes I have different priorities than most students, because of this I am not able to relate to the majority of these students. That being said I don't necessarily feel out casted because of it, it's more or less a difference of age and life experiences. In addition, I have to go home at the end of the day and have to deal with additional responsibilities not encountered living on campus. Student Veterans with families have even greater responsibilities on top of school work and campus activities. Finally, some student veterans have to commute long distances several days a week.

10 INTERVIEW WITH OLIVER ANDERSON Q: How has SVS helped you? Helped other veterans and their families? A: SVS has helped me first and foremost with the process of using the GI Bill benefits which I think a lot of veterans will agree with due to the fact it's one of the most strenuous processes that most veterans have little to prior knowledge of. In addition it has given myself along with other student veterans and dependents of veterans a place to go to if we encounter any issues on campus that are we are not able to resolve on our own.

11 INTERVIEW WITH OLIVER ANDERSON Q: How do you think SVS helps our campus? A: SVS helps our campus because it gives student veterans as well as faculty an additional resource that is specifically catered towards this population and how to handle any issues on campus that may arise. There aren't many other services available like that offered on campus.
