1 ICC Industry Advisory Committee Purpose and Scope The purpose of the Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) is to promote, in cooperation with the International Code Council (ICC), public health, safety, and welfare in the building environment by serving as a national forum for the building community to interface with the ICC. For the purposes of the IAC, the building community is taken to include all those involved in the planning, design, construction, regulation, and utilization of buildings. IAC activities will provide an opportunity for participation by interested organizations, including trade and professional associations and other bodies representing affected and knowledgeable sectors of the building community, including the public. The scope of the IAC’s activities encompasses policy and procedural issues related to the development, maintenance, and implementation of the International Code system. Issues to be considered may include social, technical, administrative, procedural, political, legal, and economic.

2 ICC Industry Advisory Committee Objectives  To advise the ICC Board of Directors on matters that will affect the working relationship or coordination of efforts of the ICC and industry, federal agencies and standards writing organizations.  To advise the ICC of methods to implement and improve the codes and other documents and services provided by the ICC.  To advise the ICC as to policies and programs to enhance the codes administration and enforcement process.

3 IAC Current Issues  Green Building –Currently analyzing USGBC and Green Globes rating systems.  ICC-ES –IAC Task Group has developed a report to be submitted to the ICC- ES Board outlining issues and recommended actions regarding acceptance criteria and evaluation service reports.  12 Month Cycle –ICC will hear a motion in September to change the Code Development Cycle to 12 months from the current 18 months.

4 ARMA Code Task Force ASTM Standards Update New Approved ASTM Standards  D226 – Standard Specification for Asphalt-Saturated Organic Felt Used in Roofing and Waterproofing has been revised to D226-05  D5147 – Standard Test Methods for Sampling and Testing Modified Bituminous Sheet Material has been revised to D5147-05  D5898 – Standard Guide for Standard Details for Adhered Sheet Waterproofing has been reapproved, available as D5898-96 (2005)  D5957 – Standard Guide for Flood Testing Horizontal Waterproofing Installations has been reapproved, available as D5957-98 (2005)

5  D6222 – Standard Specification for Atactic Polypropylene (APP) Modified Bituminous Sheet Materials Using Polyester Reinforcements has had an epsilon edit, available as D6222-02el  D6223 – Standard Specification for Atactic Polypropylene (APP) Modified Bituminous Sheet Materials Using a Combination of Polyester and Glass Fiber Reinforcements has had an epsilon edit, available as D6223-02el  D7186 – Standard Practice for Quality Assurance Observation of Roof Construction and Repair is a new standard, now available.
