I Corinthians 14:40 (NKJV) 40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

A God of Order I Corinthians 14:40

A God of Order It can be easy for us to miss some of the most incredible things this life has to offer We can get so busy that we fail to stop and appreciate all that God has done If we don’t stop to consider the greatness of God, we can miss it

A God of Order When you consider God, you must notice this fact about Him… God is a God of order We certainly see it in all that He does, especially when we look at God’s creation

A God of Order We see it in the family We see it in His church as well There is order in the organization of the church There is order even in the worship of the church

A God of Order When you realize that God is not the God of anything goes, then it causes us to seek His will To do this we must understand some things the Bible teaches us about worship 3 things to notice today…

Worship Must Be… 1. Right – There is no doubt, when we read scripture, that there is a right way and a wrong way to worship – We can go all the way back to the OT and see examples of this – Ex. Cain & Abel (Gen. 4:1-5)

Worship Must Be… 1. Right – Ex. Nadab & Abihu (Lev. 10:1-2) – We also see this carried through in the NT as well – Jesus said that we must worship God in “spirit and truth” (Jn. 4:23-24)

Worship Must Be… 1. Right – Jesus spoke of that which He called “vain” worship (Matt. 15:7-9) – Paul said that “whatever” we do in word or deed, “do all in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Col. 3:17) – God’s word equips us for all we need, even in knowledge of worship (II Tim. 3:16-17)

Worship Must Be… 2. Decently/Orderly – We can do what is right, but do it in a way that it brings no glory or honor to the Lord – I Corinthians 14:33, 40 – Paul here wanted to set things in order in the Corinthian church

Worship Must Be… 2. Decently/Orderly – There were those who were using their God given spiritual gifts in the worship, but they were not doing it in an orderly manner – It therefore caused confusion – vs. 26-31

Worship Must Be… 3. Promoting learning/encouragement – Worship should not confuse those who are there to worship as well – It should not be something that discourages others – I Corinthians 14:26, 31

Worship Must Be… 3. Promoting learning/encouragement – vs. 12, 15-16 – If a prayer is offered, but cannot be understood, how can we say “Amen” to that prayer? – These things must be promoted when we come together
