PESTLE is an analytical tool which considers external factors and helps you to think about their impacts  Is a useful tool for understanding the “big picture” of the environment in which you are operating By understanding your environment, you can take advantage of the opportunities and minimize the threats. This provides the context within which more detailed planning can take place to take full advantage of the opportunities that present themselves.

Colombia, officially the Republic of Colombia is a unitary constitutional republic comprising thirty-two departments. The IT sector, maintained a healthy growth rate of 7.5 percent in 2009 (according to a report by Fedesoft), and is expected to present growth of 3.5% in Overall investment in Information Technology and Communications (ICT) is expected to reach US$10,870.6 million in 2010, slightly up from US$10,521.7 million in It is estimated that this figure will reach US$11,119 million dollars in 2011. Colombia represents the third largest IT market in South America. The patent regime in Colombia provides for a 20 year protection period for patents and 10 year term for industrial designs; protection is also provided for new plant varieties.

11 CONCLUSION The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Colombia expanded 2.1 percent in the second quarter of 2011 over the previous quarter. Colombia has been the most dangerous country in the world for trade unionists for several decades. A total of 92.5 percent of the population is literate (male: 92.4 percent; female: 92.6 percent). Colombia has many natural advantages that transfer into the realm of IT. The IT industry in general in Colombia has enjoyed rapid growth in recent years on the back of new technologies and value added services. Colombia's main environmental problems are soil erosion, deforestation and the preservation of its wildlife. The environmental challenges faced by Colombia are caused by both natural and human factors.
