1 Guideline for planning the workshop in 2011 Busan International Architectural Culture Festival on 2011 Site explanation: Migration area of Banyeo-dong Evicted Residents The workshop site is the area formed as the migration site of evicted residents generated from the urban development process of Busan after 1970s. With the drastic population increase of Busan City, the residents in the site has extended. For improving the defective residences built first time, the construction regulations were substantially moderated than other areas to have the high-density development as is now. The biggest problem would be the absolute insufficient road, park, open space, parking facilities, and community facilities as applicable for basic urban infra. Population has gradually decreasing due to high ageing of population, poor residential environment and the like, and the area is in high-density residential area with virtually no economic feasibility that large-scale development by the private capital is almost impossible. Urban Communication – The past and the future - A city goes through the process of born, grow and extinct like any other living things. For the case of Banyeo-dong where it is designated as a workshop site has the process of defective residential area with over-population as the migration site for evicted residents. It is difficult to forecast how this area will transform as of now, but it is intended to find alternative to improve the present condition and make communication for the past and the future through this workshop. Urban Communication – The residents - Compared to the rural area, people residing in city live with anonymity, namely, the lack of communication to each other. The Banyeo-dong area is absolutely lacking the community facilities and has not parks that the anonymity is very high compared to other areas. Through this workshop, we hope to contemplate together for plans to communicate with the local residents in the Banyeo-dong area ■ 1. Title: Urban Communication (Past and Future, Residents)
