5 Animal Health Status MOA provide free services to the farmers to vaccinate their livestock against five major Animal Diseases that are considered endemic in Jordan. 6 Animal Health Status 1- Foot and Mouth Disease: - Date of last occurrence 2006 - Date of last occurrence 2006 –An annual vaccination programme is implemented –Field Isolates O PanAsia2 ► covered by O Manisa A Iran 05 ► covered by A Iran 2005 A Iran 05 ► covered by A Iran 2005 –In 2006 the R.L Recommend to use (O Manisa + A22) for cattle and (O Manisa ) for Sheep –NOW the vaccine contains (Liquid inactivated of O Pan Asia 2, O1 Manisa, A22, A Iran 2005)

7 –Cattle vaccinated up to four times sheep and goats two times annually. For Calf: if mother is vaccinated,the calf should be vaccinated at age 4 months and repeat after 4-6 week. If mother not Vaccinated, the calf should be vaccinated at age 1- 2 week and repeat after 4-6 week. If mother not Vaccinated, the calf should be vaccinated at age 1- 2 week and repeat after 4-6 week. For Sheep : Start at age 1-2 week,repeat at age 2 months and after 4-6 week the booster dose. –Private sector are able to import and vaccinate. * contingency plan for FMD is Present in Jordan

8 Animal Health Status 2- Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) –Date of last occurrence 2000 – Jordan is declared officially free from RP in 2006. –PPR vaccine is currently used in small ruminants annually (at age 3 months then annually) –Pestevac which is locally produced ► attenuated homologous live vaccine (strain PPR Nig 75/1)
