2 Cycle City Ambition Cycle City Ambition Grants -Up to £10 per head per year over 2 years A possible £5,556,000 (Cycle Demonstrations Towns were granted £5 per head per year matched locally to give £10 per head per year.)

7 Cycle City Ambition The Government expects to support one First Wave and two Second Wave cities. Our rivals are Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester and Nottingham.

10 Cycle City Ambition ‘A vision for an improved and fully integrated network that will be delivered over the next ten years’ -Submit bids by 30 April 2013 -Detailed delivery plan and package by June 2013 -Two year funding ends 2014/15

11 Cycle City Ambition Cycle City Ambition schemes should -Unlock road capacity -Link communities -Increase productivity through improved fitness -Improve the public realm and attract high value business

12 Cycle City Ambition -Bring direct savings to the NHS -Give disadvantaged groups better access to jobs -Revitalise streets -Create positive knock-on effects -Create new social enterprises

13 Cycle City Ambition Our bid will build on -Our cycling strategy -Our cross-party support -Go Smarter -The commitment to cycling improvements in major schemes -The Strategic Cycle Network

15 The scope of the grant: ‘…a vision for an improved and fully integrated network that will be delivered over the next 10 years.’

16 Cycle City Ambition The vision could include - Junction improvements -Better street design -Segregated or partially segregated cycle infrastructure alongside arterial roads for commuters -Segregated infrastructure to access schools

17 Cycle City Ambition -Better infrastructure to link up businesses, hospitals, shops, and key services -Links between green space -More 20 mph zones and limits -Improved interchange hubs with better facilities to enable and encourage better door to door journeys
