13 Proper interviewing techniques Preparing for the interview Know information about the company. Dress appropriately. Bring a copy of resume and references for the interviewer. Arrive five to fifteen minutes prior to the interview. Be prepares to answer job-related interview questions. Be prepared to ask the interviewer appropriate job-related and company-specific questions.

14 Proper interviewing techniques During the Interview 1. Use a firm and proper handshake 2. Be enthusiastic 3. Wait until offered a seat before sitting 4. Sit up straight 5. Listen to the interviewer and act interested at all times 6. Speak clearly using proper grammar, make eye contact when speaking 7. Thank the interviewer for his/her time 8. Shake hands before leaving

15 Proper interviewing techniques After the interview 1. Reflect on the interview experience. Make notes about things that went well and things needing improvement. 2. Send the interviewer a brief thank you letter as soon as possible. 3. Follow-up phone call to employer one week after the interview.
