3 Support Strategic PMI Heartland Chapter Objectives:  Local Learning Opportunities – Intended for those wishing to increase their knowledge of Project Management.  Local Educational Opportunities – Intended for practitioners in the project management field to enhance skills and maintain certification.

4 Volunteer twelve month commitment between: ◦ The Mentor – An individual who has project management experience/knowledge and is willing to share it AND ◦ The Mentee – An individual interested in learning more about one, or more, aspects of project management

5 *You can only earn 45 PDUs for the actual Mentoring program. You are not obligated to spend 4 hours per month, although it is considered the best way to achieve 45 PDU’s. 1 PDU is defined as 1 hour of face to face or phone conversation between the Mentor and Mentee. E-mail conversation is not considered eligible for PDU’s. You may not earn more than a total of 45 PDUs in the three “Giving Back to the Profession” categories per cycle if you hold the PMP and PgMP credentials. **The closure program is a face-to-face meeting to celebrate learning and re-define the Mentoring relationship.

6  Mentor – Trusted friend, counselor or teacher ◦ Make $75 financial commitment ◦ Commit to at least 2 hours of mentoring time per month for 12 months ◦ Submit Activity Log Quarterly ◦ Share skills, knowledge, and expertise ◦ Demonstrate a positive attitude and acts as a role model ◦ Value ongoing learning and growth in the field ◦ Provide guidance and constructive feedback –Value the opinions and initiatives of others – Promote networking through awareness of local talent ◦ Maintain the utmost integrity and commit to complete confidentiality  Mentee – Driver of personal professional development. ◦ Make $75 financial commitment ◦ Commit to at least 2 hours of mentoring time per month for 12 months ◦ Submit Activity Log Quarterly ◦ Define professional goals and have a clear understanding of desired outcomes of mentoring program ◦ Be actively engaged – The Mentee drives the program by defining area he/she would like to “discover” or explorer further with his/her mentor ◦ Be open to feedback and coaching. Act upon new discoveries and learnings Mentors and Mentees MUST maintain the utmost integrity and commit to complete confidentiality. Mentees MUST be PMI Heartland Chapter Members in good standing

7 Must be submitted quarterly (by the 15 th day of the month immediately following the completion of the defined calendar quarter. Log is located at http://www.pmiheartland.org/

8 Apr 2011  Heartland Chapter approves Mentor Program & Mentor Program Committee Structure  Sub-committee to the Heartland Chapter Education Committee  Lead by Co-Coordinators Jul/Aug 2011  3 pairs of Mentors and Mentees selected for pilot  Pilot Kick-Off and Training Conducted – Pilot Start! Feb 2012 - Full Program Launch ◦ Registrations opens – January 1, 2012. ◦ Registrations closes - February 17, 2012 ◦ Notification of matched mentor/mentees – February 22, 2012 ◦ Signed participation agreements due from mentors/mentees – February 24, 2012 Kick-off Meeting – February 25, 2012 Training – February 29, 2012 Aug 2011 – May 2012 – Pilot Program Runs Jun 2012 - Pilot participants submit request for PDU’s (will be awarded in 2012)
