2 A possessive pronoun shows ownership. Words such as: mine, yours, Hers, ours and theirs are used and Stand alone. Example: That coat is mine. Yours is on the chair. The possessive pronouns: my, your, her, its, our, and their come before nouns. Example: Her new car is red. Our black car is the same model. The possessive pronoun his may stand alone or come before A noun. Example: That is his dog. The dog is his.
