6 Scottish GP Contract 2017 What next – looking forward to 2020 GP will be expert medical generalist in community GP will be involved in making decisions about the best use of local services Planning and delivery of undifferentiated and complex care - core GP services, leadership and quality at a local level Patients will be seen first time by the most appropriate health or social care professional Requires an increase in staffing across all health care New types of healthcare professional may be needed Planning and delivery of more routine/chronic services - seeing the right person first
