11. Tips when applying for the free stuff:  Start early! Get your profiles, cover letters, resumes, & reference letters ready. You can even start in grade 11!  Time manage! Set aside 1-2 hours per week to work on them so they conflict with your homework & exams. Make sure you meet the deadlines, and keep copies of your applications & submissions.  Proffreed! cheque you’re speling and grammer!  Apply to many! The more you apply for, the better your odds - sometimes you might get one because you’re the only one who applied! Don’t overlook the smaller amounts, they often have fewer applicants.
