8 “Populist Progressive”“Anti-Government” Wealthy people should pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes than middle or low income Americans. Everyone in America should pay the same percentage of their income in taxes no matter what they earn. The federal government needs to take a more active role in creating jobs. It is the role of businesses and companies to create jobs, not the federal government. Government's main role is to actively work to provide economic opportunities to people and provide protections for the most vulnerable among us. Government should do everything it can to avoid interfering with people and businesses prospering on their own. We need more regulations on large corporations, Wall Street and the insurance industry. We need to let the economy work and not burden businesses with more government regulation. Economic Debates
