1 Mrs. Gilstrap's Classroom Management Plan Kristen Gilstrap EDUC 5323 November 8, 2014

2 Management Philosophy As a kindergarten teacher, I want my children’s first year of school to be their best year. Environment that makes students feel: safe, confident, loved. I do not mind noise because my lessons involve plenty of partner and group work. Teach my students to be independent leaders Demonstrate Stephen Covey’s “Seven Habits of Happy Kids”: be proactive begin with the end in mind put first things first think win-win listen to others before talking Synergize sharpen the saw

3 Importance of a Classroom Management Plan Harry Wong’s The First Days of School Have a script and a plan Playbook for teaching How I want students to come in What do with materials Emergency actions Logical rules and consequences More confident, less Use and modify the same plan each year. Instructional planning=direct correlation with classroom management plan. Instructional plans must be just as detailed and intentional to ensure no loss of instructional time and high student engagement
