3 Some Plot Points Along the Way If If We meet Beneatha’s other suitor, Joseph Asagai, who brings her gifts from his recent trip to Nigeria. We discover that Ruth is pregnant again, but the doctor she is seeing is not an obstetrician… The check finally arrives. Walter expresses his frustration because Mama will not give him the money (p. 73-74) George comes to take Beneatha out, and gets into a squabble with an extremely envious Walter. Walter and Ruth, alone for once, appear to begin to try to reconnect with each other. Mama arrives with some news…
