2 UN Report 2011 884 million people do not have access to safe water 2.5 billion do not have access to adequate sanitation Almost half the population of developing countries is suffering from one of the main diseases caused by drinking unclean water Half the hospital beds in developing countries are occupied by patients with water-related illnesses Water-related disease results in the death of almost 1.4 million children each year
