The Association of Accounting Technicians South Africa - AAT(SA) - is a finance and accountancy professional body that offers practical, internationally recognised qualifications and support. It provides great benefit to financial staff at all levels, from people in clerical and administrative positions to professional accountants. AAT(SA) is dedicated to the education, development, regulation and support of finance and accounting staff to help them earn the professional respect, recognition and rewards they deserve.

6 What’s in it for your learners? AAT(SA) qualifications are the first step in professional training that can lead to higher levels of financial responsibility. AAT(SA) is open to financial and accounts staff at all levels of experience and education. What qualification do they need? The learners do not need any formal entry qualifications to be part of AAT(SA). We do advise that they have a Grade 12 certificate and be able to complete a written assessment in English, and be numerate. What will they gain? The learners will gain competence and will be eligible for professional membership for every step of their accounting studies journey.

7 Qualification Certificate: Accounting Technician this certificate develops skills in double entry bookkeeping and gives an understanding of management and administrative process. Further Education and Training Certificate: Accounting Technician introduces complex accounting tasks including preparation of final accounts, maintaining cost accounting records and preparing reports and returns. Certificate: Accounting (Mandatory Units & two electives) focuses on the areas of accounting most relevant to your needs including personal and business tax based on South African legislation and professional ethics unit.

8 How do you advise a learner on the level they should begin? AAT(SA) has online assessments which a learner can take, the assessments provides the learner with immediate results. The outcome of these results will determine at which level of the qualification the learner should begin

9 Level will take +- 12 months to complete Level 4 will take +-15 months to complete Level 5 will take +-18 months to complete. This is based on two days of face to face facilitation per month. How long does it take to complete each level of the qualification?

10 How are our learners assessed? AAT(SA) offers you competence-based assessment process. The assessments are computer based and the learner may also be asked to complete projects. The learner will be assessed based on your skills and knowledge and once qualified, they will become a respected member of AAT(SA). The learner will also be encouraged to work towards higher levels of AAT(SA) membership, further enhancing their career and improving their life.

12 Membership Levels When you register with AAT(SA), you belong to a professional body. AAT(SA) offers membership status for every step of your accounting journey. Once you have completed a level, you will gain recognition, support and benefits from one of five membership levels below. This table describes the different AAT(SA) membership levels and the skills set you will gain from each level. 13 COSTING: The training provider will be setting their own pricing for the qualification, however, there are certain fees which you need to consider when putting together your pricing for the qualification.
