Introduction  This document is intended to guide users through the installation of Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 and the configuration of Sybase Database Connection using Open Client Directory Service Editor in a Windows environment.  The installer either performs a fresh install of Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 or upgrades existing Sybase Open Client installation to Open Client version 15.5 ESD#6. Note: In Windows Vista and Windows 7 environment, the Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 installer is certified for fresh installation only.

Introduction  Pre-Installation Requirement Note: Configuring SSH Tectia is only required if the SSH Tectia is installed; if SSH Tectia is not installed skip to Section 2: Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 Installation. If the SSH Tectia is installed, ensure that the target database server host has the SSH Tectia Server software installed and configured. The Windows machine must have the SSH Tectia software installed and configured. Depending on the Windows edition, the machine has either the SSH Tectia Client or the SSH Tectia ConnectSecure installed. The SSH Tectia configuration file may need to be updated.

Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 Installation  2.1 Retrieve Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 Installer Sites have two options to retrieve the Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 Installer −Option 1: Request CDs - Please contact the JPMO to request the Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 Installer CD. −Option 2: Download from SPS Web Site

Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 Installation  2.2 Installing Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 The Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 installer can be executed on a Windows environment with no previous version of Sybase Open Client installed, or it can be executed to upgrade existing Open Client to Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6. Note: The Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 installer should not be run on a Windows machine that has Sybase ASE 15 installed. WARNING: Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 becomes the default Sybase client on the machine upon successful installation. WARNING: If technical failure (power outage, system outage, etc.) is experienced during the installation process, the application must be uninstalled prior to starting the installation process again.

Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 Installation  2.2 Installing Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 Pre-Requisite −In order to install Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 on a machine, administrative privileges are needed for that machine. WARNING: −Before starting the install program close all other active programs on the machine to avoid problems during the installation. −Use the Windows Task Manager to ensure that dbisql.exe, dbisqlg.exe, and scjview.exe are NOT in the process list on the Processes tab.

Sybase Open Client 15 ESD#16 Installation  2.2 Installing Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 Installing Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 −To install Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6: −Double-click the “PD2v4.2Incr2SybaseOpenClient155ESD6.exe” file. (The Preparing Setup window opens.) −Click to start DemoClick to start Demo

Sybase Open Client 15 ESD#16 Installation  2.3 Setting Up Database Connection Information Using Open Client Directory Service Editor For a new installation, database connection information must be established between the Open Client and the database server. Open Client Directory Service Editor is a graphical utility that allows users to view and edit server entries in the interfaces file called “sql.ini.” This file is located under \ini where is the Sybase Open Client 15.5 installation folder. This section explains how to use the Open Client Directory Service Editor utility to edit the Adaptive Server interfaces file. −Click to start DemoClick to start Demo

Sybase Open Client 15 ESD#16 Installation  2.3 Setting Up Database Connection Information Using Open Client Directory Service Editor To setup the Sybase database connection using Open Client Directory Service Editor: −Note: The instructions below assume that Sybase Open Client 15.5 has been installed under the Sybase in the Windows Programs menu. Depending on the machine, the menu option may be All Programs instead of Programs. −From the status bar, select Start  Programs  Sybase  Connectivity −Right click on Open Client Directory Service Editor and select Run as administrator to launch the program. −Click to start DemoClick to start Demo
