4 CERN Hotel 2011-2012 program of work Since the opening of the 2 new kitchens 2 full time personnel have had to be added to maintain cleanliness!

Computing related enhancements 1.Long Term waiting list [expected December 2011]; 2.CERN Hotel Terms and Conditions of Reservation (no show invoiced) On-going deals with external hotels - Other enhancements Feb. 2012 1.On-going collaboration with the “Foyer de Saint Genis”: 70 additional rooms (Feb. 2012); 2.On going negotiations with hotels in the center of Geneva (Manotel Hotels); 3.Use fall-out shelters in Meyrin: 30 students were accommodated this summer; 4.Discussions with the Commune de Meyrin for a future hotel and student residence to be built. NEW: laundry service for CERN hotel residents - September 2011! Laundry facility will comprise of 2 laundry bags for white and/or colored washing. Once processed it will be returned folded. 5 CERN Hotel On-going improvements

6 CERN Hotel No Show – Cancellations - Refusals o These are refusals to be hosted at CERN hotel but outside solutions have been provided in most of the cases; o These refusals concern the n+ 6 months period. o These are refusals to be hosted at CERN hotel but outside solutions have been provided in most of the cases; o These refusals concern the n+ 6 months period.

New alternative to be considered: o Car pooling between individuals; o Already working with the Etat de Geneve and the HUG (See below); o Can define where you want to go, starting from where, when and how many times; o As a driver or a passenger; o Green Monkeys supplies the software; o Price is fixed per km 0.24CHF/km as a passenger, 0.16CHF if 2 passengers during a trip; o Green Monkeys commission per km = 0.04CHF o Personnel data remains confidential; o Electronic payment via an electronic “porte - monnaie”. 12 Mobility strategy

Shuttles a.Persons transported since February 2010 b.Groups transported c.Since May 2011 13 Investment of 260kCHF/year (2 drivers and 2 rented shuttles).

16 Question Optimization of CERN shuttle routes - Question How to go to the Airport? TRAM number L18 - Every 10 minutes from 5:00 to 00:00 Do we still need an extension of the Airport Shuttle on Sunday evenings between 4pm and midnight?

17 Mobility Survey Goals: 1.mobility patterns inside and outside CERN, 2.attitudes and perception towards various modes of transport. 3.preferences in some hypothetical scenarios regarding mode choice and parking facility choice. The results of this survey will be used to assess travel needs between Home and CERN, as well as within CERN. ANALYSIS REPORT in progress ANALYSIS REPORT in progress expected results during the course of October. 694 fully completed questionnaires!
