II, 5/6/2008 Junction box 7  Receives ~ 3700V 50Hz from shore station & provides ~400V @ 50Hz to 16 galvanically independent outputs {transformer with 16 secondaries} (& individually protected by re-armable circuit breakers);  Distributes clock synchronisation signals on fibreoptics to up to 16 outputs  Collects DAQ data via fibreoptics from up to 16 outputs  Junction Box internal control system and DAQ triply-redundant Deployment, December 2002

II, 5/6/2008 Cable characteristics: 2 electrical wires: Voltage : 500 VAC, Current : ~2.5 A, wire section : 3 mm 2 2 single mode optical fibres for slow control and data transmission (used with 200 GHz DWDM) 2 single mode optical fibres for clock distribution (1 fibre for redundancy) Optical losses < 2 dB per optical channel Length of the link : 120 m to 350 m Weight of the link : < 50 kg in water Dry cable for link, equipressure for jumper The underwater interlink connections 8
