3 ABOUT QUALITY MATTERS™ Not-for-profit subscription service o Courses offered completely online Initiated in 2003 by MarylandOnline with funding from FIPSE o Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education Adopted by a broad user base o Higher Education, K12, Publishers, Corporations, Government Entities

7 COURSE DESIGN Doctor of Nurse Practice- Nurse Anesthesia o Inaugural cohort started January 2015 o Initial fifteen credit-hours taught 100% online  Research, Evidence-Based Practice  Health Care Policy and Advancement  Decision Sciences and Informatics  Emerging Sciences  Applied Biostatistics and Epidemiology

8 COURSE DESIGN Initial Planning and Design o Applying the Quality Matters Rubric Workshop  All those involved in planning and design were required to complete course o Bi-weekly Planning/Design meetings  Six month timeframe  Participants included Instructional Technologists Subject Matter Experts Faculty teaching in the DNP-NA Program

10 COURSE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS Course Design QM Peer Review (Onsite) Implement Feedback from Peer Review Second QM Peer Review Curriculum Committee Courses Published in LMS Revisions made after course is taught based on student and instructor feedback

11 FACULTY PERCEPTIONS Consistency Participants felt teaching a DNP-NA course according to the Quality Matters Framework provided consistency throughout the curriculum. Predictability Participants felt comfortable in knowing where to find certain elements of the course Opportunity for Improvement Participants indicated room for improvement Multimedia use Diversity for course “look and feel” Making resources more accessible and easier to find

12 COURSE FORMAT AND REDESIGN Researched different course formats for our Learning Management System o Installed “OneTopic” Plugin for Moodle 2.4 Provided new format for more course design options o Example: M.H.A. Health Administration Courses
