2 Campus Web Services Accomplishments & Goals Completed all but one remaining ticket from 2011. Went from 79+ open tickets to ~20 at any given time. Hope to decrease that to 15 by end of April and 10 by July 1. April/May: We will migrate sites hosted on old Solaris zone based infrastructure to new VM-based infrastructure. July 1, 2012: We will consistently provision standard config sites (Shared and VM) within 1-2 business days. By December 31, 2012: Will allow major customers like Media Solutions to self-provision sites in real-time. This is the next step to deploying a truly cloud-like hosting service (PaaS).

3 Identity Management Accomplishments & Goals Absorbed all IPControl functions done by NOC (mainly hospital). Cleaned up unused VM’s to free up cloud resources. July 1: Will have upgraded CAS (go.utah.edu) infrastructure. This includes new hardware, improvements in how sessions are handled. Shibboleth 2 implementation done. Cleanup left to do. Identity consolidation progressing well. WA, WA2 nearing shutoff. Succesful IPControl implementation. Currently working on cleaning up records that aren’t being managed correctly due to import/upgrade process. Deployed (with App Services) Jenkins as Hudson replacement for release management processes. Cleaned out several hundred Altiris tickets.

4 UNIX | VM Accomplishments & Goals PeopleSoft DEV build Recovered low-level hard disk failure on komascons Finished first round of automated Linux install process. Vital for data center migration AND future cloud self-service provisioning effort! Completed physical machine inventory PAM servers build Business Objects server build April/May: Continue retiring old unsupported hardware. Will shutdown 1/3 of all identified machines by end of April. July 1, 2012: Complete password sync project to allow sync between Solaris and Linux using secure protocols. July 1, 2012: Complete massive security project including changing root passwords on ALL ACS AND UIT servers we are responsible for. Also limit number of people who KNOW root password to 3-6 key players. Finally, implement cohesive sudo process to enable audited sudo capabilities to people can still do their jobs. Since taking on cloud services in February, we have come up to speed quickly, provisioning cloud servers in 2-5 business days opposed to 5-10 business days. July 1, 2012: We will provision standard cloud server requests within 1-2 business days.
