1 9th Physical Science Week of Dec 07 th rd – Dec 11 th

2  Section 16.2: Ohm’s Law WkSht Section 16.3: Voltage, Current & Resistance WkSht Section 16.4: Series Circuits WkSht  Section 16.4: Parallel Circuits WkSht  Lab: Circuit Construction Kit (DC) – PhET Simulation  Homework: Thomas Edison or Lewis Latimer or George Westinghouse - WkSht

3 LEARNING TARGETS I can explain and calculate the relationship between current, voltage, resistance, and power in a simple Circuit. I can define common electricity terms such as current, voltage, resistance, power. I can measure current and voltage in a circuit. I can apply Ohm's Law to calculate voltage, current or resistance. I can identify circuits as series, parallel, or combination. I can calculate total resistance in simple series, simple parallel and combination (advanced learner) circuits. I can calculate percent error from an experimentally obtained value to a theoretically calculated value. I can compare the theoretical value of a voltage or current in a simple circuit to the actual value obtained with a multimeter.

4 Next Quiz / Test : Wednesday December 16 th It will cover : Chapter 16, You will need to know : Electricity – Ohm’s Law [ I = V / R V = I x R R = V / I ] – Series Circuits: Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law: V Total = V 1 + V 2 + …… R total = R 1 + R 2 + …… Current – Same throughout – Parallel Circuits: Kirchhoff’s Current Law : I Total = I 1 + I 2 + …… R total = (R 1 x R 2 ) / (R 1 + R 2 ) Voltage - same in all branchs
