TUBITAK: –The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) established in 1963 is an autonomous institution and is governed by a scientific board –Nation-wide research is conducted in 15 different research institutes. –The national coordinating body of EU's Framework Program

ULAKBIM: –Turkish National Academic Network and Information Center is an institute of TUBITAK which is responsible for:  Managing national academic network ULAKNET (NREN)  Acting as a (digital) library for academic publications  Managing national grid initiative and infrastructure (NGI)

5 Enabling Grids for E-sciencE INFSO-RI-508833 T2 ULAKBIM Site Report, NL Cloud Meeting, 22 January 2010 5 TR-Grid NGI TR-Grid National Grid Initiative is established in 2003 with a MoU between: –TUBITAK-ULAKBIM –Bogazici University –Bilkent University –İstanbul Technical University Then, it was extended with the participation of four universities SEEGRID, EUMEDGRID, SEEGRID-II, SEE-GRID-SCI, EGEE-II, EUMEDGRID-Support and EGEE-III are the international project of NGI Under the management of ULAKBIM, TR-Grid NGI has been coordinating national grid related activities for over 6 years

7 Enabling Grids for E-sciencE INFSO-RI-508833 T2 ULAKBIM Site Report, NL Cloud Meeting, 22 January 2010 7 TR-Grid e-Infrastructure 7 EGEE certified sites  TR-01-ULAKBIM (1216 CPU, 30 TB)  TR-03-METU (312 CPU, 190 TB)  TR-04-ERCIYES (64 CPU, 1 TB)  TR-05-BOUN (64 CPU, 1 TB)  TR-07-PAMUKKALE (64 CPU, 1 TB)  TR-09-ITU (64 CPU, 1 TB)  TR-10-ULAKBIM (650 CPU, 325 TB) HPC Cluster  TR-Grid has also several clusters. Infiniband connectivity is provided for tightly coupled applications and Lustre file system

Middleware and operating system management of all sites are in responsibility domain of TR-Grid Operation Center. TR-Grid CA –Accredited in September 2005. –TR-Grid CA has been operating and providing certification services of TR-Grid.

11 Enabling Grids for E-sciencE INFSO-RI-508833 T2 ULAKBIM Site Report, NL Cloud Meeting, 22 January 2010 11 T2-ULAKBIM Status Update Installing new storage resource, 396 TB CPUs reservation for ATLAS (new maui fair-share configuration) –The users from other disciplines could have used these resources in the past –The majority part of the resources are allocated for only atlas experiment anymore System room design (power infrastructure, climate) Network Connection –5G connection with GEANT Ram upgrade for each cores –Each core has 2 GB memory

12 Enabling Grids for E-sciencE INFSO-RI-508833 T2 ULAKBIM Site Report, NL Cloud Meeting, 22 January 2010 12 T2-ULAKBIM Current Status CPU –Each node has 4 cores, Intel Xeon 5110 –Each node has 8G RAM, 2G for each core –Currently 340 cores available (85 WN) Storage (Technology) –DPM is used –Currently 85 T has been reserved (space token), it will be extended. Network bandwidth –2 X 2.5 Gbps (Totally 5 Gbps for Geant) –10 Gbps for internal transition (Istanbul - Ankara)
