Goal: To increase academic achievement at Bleckley County High School.

This year two Advanced Placement classes were added to our curriculum: US History and Biology. We will add Statistics, Calculus, Language, Literature, and World History next year. This will create choices for both Honors and Non-Honors students.

9 th Grade:Honors English Honors Biology Accelerated Math I Students must choose a minimum of 2 classes

10 th Grade:Honors English Honors Chemistry AP World History Honors World History Accelerated Math 2 Students must choose a minimum of 2 classes If a student elects not to take Honors Chemistry, they must still take Chemistry.

11 th Grade:Honors English AP Language Physics AP US History Accelerated Math 3 Students must choose a minimum of 2 classes *Physics is a requirement

12 th Grade:AP Literature Honors English AP Statistics or AP Calculus AP Biology/Physics II/Anatomy & Physiology Students must choose a minimum of 2 classes

Advanced Placement Classes: Class of 2010 – Must take a minimum of 2 AP classes Class of 2011 and after – must take a minimum of 3 AP classes

Advanced Placement Classes are open to all BCHS students. A student is not required to be in the Honors program to participate in the AP program.

Students may dual enroll with a college and meet the requirements for an Honors Diploma. However, they must ensure the minimum number of Honors and Advanced Placement classes are met.

Students identified as gifted will be automatically admitted to the Honors Program.
