2 Local Safeguarding Children Boards Must be established for each local authority area and have specific organisations and individuals represented on the LSCB Developing policies and procedures for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in the area Communication about safeguarding Monitoring and evaluating effectiveness of what is done to safeguard and promote the welfare of children Child death functions, including serious case reviews Do not commission or deliver direct frontline services though they may provide training

4 Statutory Guidance Working Together to Safeguard Children (2015) Keeping Children Safe in Education (2015) Consultation document Keeping Children Safe in Education (2016) – Online safety (new) Ensure appropriate filters and monitoring systems are in place Systems in place that will identify children accessing or trying to access harmful and inappropriate material online Guidance on e-security National Education Network and on procuring ICT Buying ICT advice for schools Clear policy on the use of mobile technology in the school – Opportunities to teach safeguarding Ensure children are taught about safeguarding, including online Over-blocking should not lead to unreasonable restrictions
