WOMEN’S RIGHTS Alexis Fenton

INTRODUCTION  Women’s Rights is a world-wide issue. Internationally, women are not treated as equal to men. In the United States, women are paid less for doing harder work than men. This should be stopped.

WHY YOU CHOSE THIS ISSUE  Without women’s rights, I would not have as fair opportunities in school, and might be stuck at home cooking and cleaning. Women’s rights can still be improved. Women around the world do not have as many opportunities as men in general, and I wish every women could have the same opportunities as men.

WHY IS THIS ISSUE IMPORTANT?  Women have just as important opinions and ideas, and they should be heard. In other countries, women do not even have their opinions, and ideas heard. That is not right. Violence causes more death and disability worldwide amongst women aged 15-44 than war, cancer, malaria and traffic accidents.

WHAT CAN BE DONE TO HELP THIS ISSUE?  Women around the world are not being heard. If women were more involved in the government, they would be respected and have their opinions heard. The United States could use some more women in the government. http://thehpalliance.org/2012/08/are- you-aching-from-akin-womens-health-and- equality/womens-rights/

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING TO HELP END THIS ISSUE?  I am a huge supporter of women’s rights. I think women have as good, or better ideas and opinions than men. Women should have just as much input in the government and anything else.

APPROPRIATE CONCLUSION  Women’s rights is a problem around the world. In the United States, women are paid less for harder work than men. Women are not allowed to speak up in other countries. Globally, women make up just 17% of parliamentarians. Women in the United States are lucky. Women can change the world for the ones who are not so lucky. http://amnesty- volunteer.org/us a/stlouis/tag/wo mens-rights/
