What you are presented with is an honest reflection and evaluation. LAP Designation: Time to Get to Work!

Time To Get to Work: The Process Gain As Much Insight As Possible from the School Community To better understand…. …What are we doing well? …What do we need to improve? Nearly 600 Student Surveys Over 50 Teacher/Staff Surveys Nearly 100 Parent Surveys Nearly 20 Classroom Visitations Over 50 Comprehensive Staff Interviews

Compiling the Information We’ve reviewed and discussed the information gained through our self- analysis, New York State assessment results, school report card and school & community feedback…. Now What? FIRST: Take what we have learned and unpack into the 6 Tenets AND, THEN: Develop a specific plan of action

Tenet 2: School Leadership Practices/Decisions Essential Targets: Become more familiar with the District Strategic Plan. Share the LAP Plan in a manner that is transparent to staff and families. Improve the use of student performance information within the school community.

Tenet 3: Curriculum Development/Support Essential Targets: Scope and Sequence in ELA - Creation and eventual implementation. Continue to create and fine tune the interim assessments in Math and ELA. Improve the quality and amount of communication among stakeholders.

Tenet 4: Teacher Practices and Support Essential Targets: Provide expert training for staff on best practices in meeting the needs of all learners (i.e. differentiated instruction). Review the curriculum and assessment results and develop modifications to meet the needs of our students, ensuring that we are providing a rigorous curriculum.

Tenet 5: Student Social and Emotional Development Essential Targets: Create a deliberate process to collect student information (Academic, Social/Behavioral) that will assist in the development of a strategic plan of intervention. Expand the character education program beyond the office and school walls.

Tenet 6: Family and Community Engagement Essential Targets: Leverage school and community resources to increase parent engagement and advocacy. Building a partnership with our families and community. Focus on utilizing student information to support academic and social/emotional health development. Empowering families to better support their children!

We will…. …Work SMARTER to meet the needs of our students …Improve our Support for all …Continue to work tirelessly to meet the expectations of the BOE, School Community and the CCLS. …Come out of this stronger!

We are determined to stay strong! “Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragements, and impossibilities: It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak.” Thomas Carlyle
