2 Welcome to Dooars Dooars is famous for its rich biodiversity and superfluity of wildlife in its Gorumara National Park, Chapramari forests, Jaldapara Wild Life Sanctuary and Buxa Tiger Reserve. Beautiful motor able roads cutting through deep forests, mauve hills standing at the end of velvet green plains, forests echoing with the melody of birds and fabulous wildlife sanctuaries with picture-postcard, log cabin lodges, valleys carpeted with tea gardens, small quiet ethnic villages, vast meadows with a blue outline of the Himalayan ranges in the horizon, endless sky.... 3 Jaldapara Wild Life Sanctuary: Jaldapara is the largest wildlife sanctuary in Dooars covering an area of approx 217 sq.kms. It is located in Alipurduar subdivision at Jalpaiguri District. Jaldapara is covered mostly with tall grass & a wide variety of green vegetation, which makes Jaldapara a heaven for many endangered spices. River Torsha flows through the sanctuary. Malangi is also an important river flowing nearby.

4 Chapramari Wild Life Sanctuary: Chapramari, 32 kms from Panchavati is famous for its jungle and elephants. The place is the home to various other animals like Gaur, Wild boar, Leopards, Royal Bengal Tiger, Himalayan Langoor, deer, reptiles etc. The sanctuary is a paradise for bird watchers. Here one can view various type of birds like Black partridges, Green pigeon, Florican, Peafowl, Flinch, Bee-eater, Hornbill, Roller, and many more.

5 Gorumara National Park: Gorumara National park is situated opposite to Panchavati. One can watch several kilometers of forest from the watch tower. Gorumara National Park is the land of the prehistoric Great Indian one horned Rhinoceros. One gets to see wild animals like Elephants, Indian Bisons, Wild Boars, Leopards, Peacocks, Rock Python, Sambar Deer, Barking Deer and many birds. Permits are available for different Watch Towers. 6 Buxa Tiger Reserve Forests: Once famous for dolomite mining, Buxa was declared a tiger reserve in 1983 and got the status of National park in 1992. Located in the Assam- Bhutan border, Buxa has an area of 745 sq km, the largest forest in North Bengal and has the second highest tiger population in West Bengal after Sunderbans. The park holds maximum number of elephant, Indian bison, leopard, many species of deer and many smaller mammals, innumerable species of birds and reptiles.

7 Samsing & Suntaley Khola: It is a nature lover’s paradise. The journey to Samsing is a memorable one, as you slowly ride uphill through the most picturesque Dooars tea garden on the rolling hill slopes. Suntaley Khola is about four kilometers further up the road from Samsing. It gets its name from a small stream; Suntaley Khola. In Nepali Suntaley means orange and Khola means stream. It is also a place for birding with birds. The hills with green all around will never let you feel alone in this divine landscape.

8 Totopara: Totopara is 22 km away from Madarihat, the entrance of the famous Jaldapara National Park. It is home to the Toto Tribe, one of the few remaining tribes of its kind in the world. Their customs and culture have invoked great interest amongst anthropologists.the famous Jaldapara National Park Lataguri: Lataguri, the sleepy hamlet surrounded by forest, numerous rivers, tea gardens and forest villages attracts tourists from all over the world with its rapid developing infrastructure and carefully nurtured natural beauty. Lataguri has come down under limelight of world of tourism.
