2 Continuum of Care The purpose of the Continuum of Care program is to: o promote communitywide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness o provide coordination, funding, and support for efforts by nonprofit providers and local governments to quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families while minimizing the trauma o optimize self-sufficiency among individuals and families experiencing homelessness

3 Who makes up the Beaver County CoC? 8 HUD funded supportive housing programs for people who are homeless and have a disability 2 emergency shelters (one for men, one for women who experience domestic violence) Coalition made up of 150 diverse social services & housing providers who offer services to support the complex needs of people who experience a housing crisis. Meets monthly and is open to the public The Steering Committee serves as the HUD-designated primary decision-making group and oversight board for the CoC. Meets quarterly.

4 Point In Time Survey In our most recent Point In Time survey, we counted: 172 people (constituting 74 households) who were experiencing a housing crisis that day. A housing crisis can mean living in: a motel, a place not meant for human habitation, or temporarily living with family and/or friends (coach surfing)

6 PIT Data (continued) 346 homeless people were housed in supportive housing programs that night Because self sufficiency is a CoC goal, safe & affordable housing options for homeless people to transition into upon exiting a supportive housing program are an imperative piece to them maintaining stable housing.

7 How do I access the CoC? Attend the Housing and Homeless Coalition Meetings the 2 nd Thursday of the month in the Beaver County Human Services Building 1080 7 th Avenue (3 rd floor) Beaver Falls, PA Access resources to support your current tenants or to make your units available to households experiencing a housing crisis at: The Cornerstone at 724.846.6400

8 The Cornerstone: 724.846.6400 A central hub for comprehensive social services for households experiencing a housing crisis Rent assistance, utility assistance, housing options specialist, consumer credit counseling, services for specialized populations such as veterans & people with disabilities. -Staff will also connect you to resources available throughout the CoC as needed No wrong door to accessing services

9 Greatest Need Efficiencies Rents with utilities included Rentals that accept people with criminal histories Multi-bedroom apartments for families Landlords who will reach out to social services to help tenants avoid eviction

10 How can Landlords help? Consider letting the Housing Options Specialist know that you are interested in renting to households experiencing a housing crisis. Reach out to The Cornerstone if you notice your tenant is behind on rent, their utilities are shut off, or if you are planning on evicting them. Join the Housing and Homeless Coalition to share your challenges so we can work together to provide the most homes to those who need them the most.
