And so disciples need to learn death 1.From the beginning of the Bible, the message has been that salvation (life) comes THROUGH judgment (death). A.Genesis 3.15-19 2.The OT predicted a Messiah that would suffer before being glorified. The Jews totally rejected this. A.Acts 26.22-23

3.This is exactly what Jesus taught A.Luke 9.22 B.John 12.24 4.And this is apostolic teaching A.Romans 8.17 B.I Peter 4.12-13

The Salvation of our souls is life through death 1.Christ died—then rose. I Corinthians 15 2.We are to understand this applies to our lives A.Romans 6.8-11 3.Christ didn’t die for us, so we could go on sinning without penalty. We die to sin

Death is the mentality of discipleship—even unto martyrdom 1.Luke 9.21-27 2.Luke 14.25-35 3.II Corinthians 1.8-10 4.II Corinthians 4.10-15 5.II Corinthians 5.14-15 6.Revelation 12.11

Disciples understand that this will include physical death 1.Every generation of believers have hoped the Rapture will precede their death 2.But it hasn’t happened yet 3.The Lord instructs us how to think about this A.Death is an enemy. I Corinthians 15.26 B.But never a victor. I Corinthians 15.55 C.Physical death is the “gateway” to God. Philippians 1.20-25
