The site of the Auschwitz concentration camp is a moving memorial to the over 1.5 million Jews who died there during WWII. Students see a short film about the liberation of the camp before visiting some of the surviving prison blocks, gas chamber and crematorium. One of the most horrific acts in human history is presented with a level of tact, poignancy and professionalism that is profound.

Pre World War II, Poland housed the largest Jewish community in Europe and Kazimierz is representative of this. it will enable students to retrace the history of Krakow's Jews, and see the remains of their culture here.

8. Sites and visits in Krakow Wawel Castle & Cathedral The Wawel Royal Castle and Cathedral on Wawel Hill was built at the time of Casimir III the Great, who reigned from 1333 to 1370. It is the most historically and culturally important site in Poland. The castle is a combination of Medieval Romanesque, Renaissance styles all brought by different rulers and houses extremely valuable museum collections.

12. Next steps for booking with European Study Tours Provisional Booking - A provisional booking will be held for a maximum of four weeks for coach, rail and Eurostar tours. To confirm this tour, send us your completed firm booking form and deposits of £50 per paying person. Provisional bookings are not possible for air tours, deposits of £80 (European tours) and £100 (worldwide tours) per paying person and a completed firm booking form are required. Firm Booking - Once you have made a firm booking, you will receive a comprehensive Group Leader's Travel Pack, including a Time Out Guide (or similar). We will then begin work on planning your programme of subject specific visits and excursions. Groups can make use of our excellent pre-booking service for museums, subject specific visits, theme parks, meals and other excursions. Final payments - Final payment for your tour will be due ten weeks before departure. At this point we will also ask you for your final details such as your names list. Your final pack - Approximately three weeks prior to departure, we will send your Final Information Pack including your tickets, your finalised itinerary and other essential information.
