4 DLR-PT, Bonn Call: CLIENT II – International Partnerships for Sustainable Innovations Objectives:To support international partnerships in the areas of climate, environment and energy Scope: Demand-oriented R&D collaborations with selected newly industrializing & developing countries with interesting markets for German suppliers of technology Focal Sustainable technologies and services in areas: Resource efficiency and sustainable resource technologies Water management Climate protection / energy efficiency Adaptation to climate change Land management Sustainable energy systems Natural hazards

5 DLR-PT, Bonn Call: CLIENT II – International Partnerships for Sustainable Innovations Prerequisites of demand-oriented R&D collaborations Relevance & demonstrated need for R&D in the partner country Proof of own financing by partners in the partner countries Involvement of ideally several institutions in the partner country (preferably research institutions, companies with independent research and development activities) and at least one stakeholder crucial to project implementation Signature of a written agreement between all collaboration partners concerning rights and duties within the project

South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, Algeria, Ghana, Morocco) Natural hazards Andes region and Central Asia

7 DLR-PT, Bonn Call: CLIENT II – International Partnerships for Sustainable Innovations Expected Effective impetus to reduce environmental pollution in the partner outcomes:countries to use natural resources both wisely and economically, to supply safe, clean and affordable energy to all segments of the population, and to make advances in global climate protection and in the adaptation to climate change and natural hazards. Significant impact at local level and demonstrate relevance to similar conditions in other regions. Expected Increasing resource and energy efficiency, through sustainable land Strategy:use, or by reducing harmful emissions to the air, water and soil. 8 DLR-PT, Bonn Call: Partnerships for sustainable solutions in developing countries – Research for Development Objectives:To strengthen cooperation with developing countries in Asia-Pacific To contribute to regional solutions of global importance To identify innovation potentials and accompany its development To jointly collaborate on intergrated solutions combining science with regional / local knowledge and demands To develop and network German capacities in development research To develop the partner countries research and scientific human resource capacities Scope: Pilot Projects on new and advanced opportunities for joint research cooperation development of innovation potentials in the partner country preparation of follow-up projects
