3 Homophones Homophones are words that sound alike, but have different meanings.

4 Why? Although re-drafting is important for your folio pieces in secondary school you must be able to write as accurately as possible at the first attempt. We need to be able to check our own work.

7 Here = where someone or something is. » Here comes the bride.

8 Hear = using your ears Can you hear me?

10 There vs Their A bit more tricky!

11 There = where someone or something is. Look over there ».

12 Their = belonging to someone That is their seat. Mine?

13 They’re = short for they are. They’re going to the party.

15 To = shows directions I’m going to the shops

16 Too = means also or aswell I’ll come along too.

17 Two = is the number. I have two sisters.

24 Homework Task Your next task is to make a poster using a homophone with a clear explanation of its definition. For example:

25 Homophones Put the following homophones into sentences: 1.read and red 2.idle and idol 3.aloud and allowed 4. loch and lock 5. aye and eye 6. brake and break Remember, you should have 12 sentences altogether!
