5 2016 PSSA Testing Schedule (Handout 1) PSSA ELA, MATH, SCIENCE ASSESSMENTS Grades 3, 4, 5 Begins Monday, April 11 th April 11: Writing ( Multiple Choice & 1 Constructed Response) April 12: Reading April 13: Reading April 14: Reading April 18: Mathematics April 19: Mathematics April 20: Mathematics

6 PSSA Science Assessment Grade 4 April 25: Science- Section 1 April 26: Science- Section 2 Make-up testing for all subjects : Must be completed by May 6, 2016

7 Ironton – prepared & positive Review  Testing Manual  Handbook for Secure Test Administration  Ethical Standards (Handout 2) Sharpened #2 pencils TESTING sign on the door ALL student booklets will be pre-coded The extra booklet for demonstration purposes: JOE PARKLAND Test Administrators of students with IEP’s/Accommodations will have a list of accommodations from the IEP during testing

8 Reference Notes Lisa Wolfe( assisted by Special Education and ELL Teachers) will mark all accommodations on student booklets Day 1 of the testing Test Security Certifications must be signed by ALL individuals who handle or have access to the secure assessment materials  Must be signed after each assessment is completed  Please read the Test Security Certificate Appendix C Manual prior to the start of testing Review Code of Conduct for Test Takers with all students  A copy is included in the packet (Handout 3)  Review prior to the first day of every testing session  Students are required to mark (fill in bubble) on the front cover of test booklet indicating their understanding

9 2016 Post information about the current testing session on the board each morning Scoring Guidelines & Formula sheets are distributed to every student and collected  Will be included in Testing Bins Collect all student electronics  All electronics turned off Actively monitor students  Watch as students are working on the test  Teachers walk around the classroom

10 2016 Student booklets must be collected when students close their test booklet indicating their test is completed Scratch paper distributed, collected, and returned each day TEST ADMINISTRATOR MUST COLLECT ALL USED SCRATCH PAPER AFTER THE NON- CALCULATOR PORTION OF MATHEMATICS TEST

11 Procedures for distribution & collection of materials Procedures for distribution & collection of materials Each test administrator will pick up, count, and sign for test booklets in the Counseling Office daily (8:00-8:30 A.M.)  All testing begins at 9:10 a.m. Discussion and or copying the contents of the test is not permitted Students should not make extraneous marks in answer booklets  No one should check documents for content, accuracy, completeness or stray marks

12 Procedures for extended time Extended Time Procedure (Ironton plan, Handout 5)  Refer to manual  When the majority of your students are finished testing according to the time guidelines  Teacher calls R oom 202, ext. 25202  Someone will come to the classroom for coverage  Teacher escorts students who require extra time  Dr. Walkovic in Room 217  The teacher carries testing bin to Lisa Wolfe in Counseling Office  Counts booklets and signs to verify the return of books

13 Classroom & Hallway Displays Remove or cover all materials related to testing ELA, Mathematics, Science  Scoring guidelines & formula sheets are permitted  Collect, return to testing bins Cell Phones Prohibited items are cameras, smart watches & all electronic devices Parent letter explaining this policy and the consequences Staff cell phones, please turn off  Place in closet? Integrity of the test should not be compromised

14 Can be used except for the Non-Calculator section of Mathematics assessment  (Gr. 4 & 5 only) CLEAR CALCULATOR MEMORY AFTER EVERY TESTING SESSION Calculators cannot be shared Dictionaries, Thesauruses, Spell-Checkers prohibited Response space  Students limited to the response space provided in the answer booklets Calculators & response space

15 District Contingency Plan Weather, Early/Late Starts or Dismissals, Fire Drills or Building Evacuations, Student Late Arrival, Extended Time into Lunch, and Closing of School (Handout 4) Ironton Contingency Plan In the event of disruptions to the testing schedule All students should have the opportunity to use the bathroom prior to the start of the testing session (Handout 5) Refer to Building Plan for procedure (Handout 5) During testing call ext. 25202 for someone to escort a student to the bathroom

16 Ironton Contingency Plan continued Student illness Call the Office ext. 25500 or Nurse ext. 25520 Someone will come to your room, escort student to the Nurse’s Office The student’s test materials will be collected and taken by an adult monitor to the Counseling Office. Materials will be locked. Behavioral issues Call Mr. Holmes ext. 25500 or Lisa Wolfe ext. 25510 Students are not permitted to carry their testing materials at any time  An adult must carry materials. The safety of the students is always our top priority. Respect the integrity of the test TESTING HOTLINE: Lisa Wolfe 25510

17 PDE Monitors may visit the school before, during, and after testing is completed Please review possible interview questions (Handout 6) A make-up testing sheet will be in the testing bins, complete each day Keep form in your testing bin throughout the testing window All make-up testing will be conducted in the order in which the student misses a particular section of the test, coordinated by Lisa Wolfe PDE monitoring Conclusion Make up testing THANKS FOR ALWAYS GOING THE MILE!
