2 Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

3 4 Weeks of work at the Research Base Students work at the Research Base on education and outreach programs for 4 weeks of their internship/course. On weekends they go on cultural activities with a trusted friend and colleague from a local NGO called Green SOS. We have partnered with this gentleman for 3 years. To get to these cultural destinations we use public buses or taxis for travel. The other 2 weeks of their 6 week time here is dedicated to summer camps. There are 5 days of training (on the Research base) and then 9 days in the villages (including 2 days of travel).

4 Location Basics The location is Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. Chengdu is the provincial capitol of Sichuan in the Southwestern region of China. Chengdu is a very large metropolitan (14 million+ citizens) area with modern conveniences. Students stay in a hotel, it is very clean, has wi-fi so they can stay in touch with family and friends in U.S. They are each given their own domestic mobile phone to keep in touch with their professor and Chinese colleagues and especially if they ever get lost or don't feel well. The work site is the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and this is a 5 star international tourist destination, as well as an internationally recognized research facility for the conservation of critically endangered species. www.panda.org.cn www.panda.org.cn
