1 Professionalism Operation: Work Ethic Alyssa Ruiz

2 Overview What is work ethic? Good vs. Bad Attendance Dependability Teamwork and Cooperation Attire

3 What is this “work ethic” you speak of? Definition: a belief in the moral benefit and importance of work and its inherent ability to strengthen character. Do you believe in your work? Are assignments put off until the last minute? Do you value your work? Do you bring your personal problems to work?

4 Good vs. Bad Jim arrives to work on time, in uniform and friendly greets his coworkers. Jim’s workplace is clean, organized and work is done efficiently in both time and quality. When a coworker is falling behind or doesn’t understand a task, Jim offers his assistance. Tom has called in sick for the past few days and arrives to work 10 minutes late. When a coworker tells him “good morning” he does not respond, then spends 15 minutes chatting while getting coffee. He has to be told, yet again, to tuck in his shirt and pull up his pants.
