2 Reminder! Like terms have:  The same variable AND  The same exponent x + x = 2x or x 2 – x 2 = 0x 2 = 0 (when adding or subtracting do not touch the exponents) (x)(x) = x 2 or (x 2 )(x 2 ) = x 4 (when multiplying add the exponents)
