14 Southeast Engineering Center Scaling for Boat Rudder Data Data for Average Water Cruiser Dimensions: Length: 18’6”Width: 7’6” Weight: 2650 lbs dry, 3850 lbs wet Average Speed: 20 mph Rudder Size: 5 ¾” x 12” By looking at this data, although the sizes are different; draft in the water is approx. the same as it will be for the Gator, and Top Speed as well as Weight is almost exactly 4 times that of the goal estimate for the gator. Because of this similarity, a rudder of the same size will work well for the gator. With this conclusion, it was deemed best to put two rudders on the gator, one behind each tire to maximize steering ability and storability when not in use. AUV Gator
