Feedback

Feedback from professionals ● ”An excellent example of joint health and social care work. Please apply for an award!”. (GP Newbury Park) ● “ Very professional, quick and helpful. Patient feedback has been excellent. (GP Woodford) ● ReFRS is invaluable in allowing us to provide advice to the most vulnerable members of our community, who ordinarily we may never interact with (Steve Brown, Borough Commander, Redbridge LFB) ● “I am delighted that this scheme is being widely used by police officers and staff on the Borough. (Sue Williams, Borough Commander, MPS Redbridge) ● “I believe ReFRS to be ascertaining some of the more covert Carers. It is also encouraging to see how many of the referrals have been made by GP’s”.(Shamshia Ali, Senior Services Manager, Redbridge Carers Support Service)

Feedback from service users ● 93% rated ReFRS as Good or Excellent ● “I would have been lost without ReFRS, I don’t know where I would have gone.” (Service User) ● “I feel safer because someone listened.” ( Service User) ● 100% of service users stated they were satisfied with the referrals made to organisations on their behalf ● 100% of service users stated that it was easier for organisations to contact them directly rather than having to find their details themselves.

Predicted cost savings Total cost for ReFRS: £77,571.52 Per Annum (24 areas of support provided) Fire Safety A Home Fire Safety Visit is one way of driving down instances of accidental dwelling fires, reducing deaths and injuries. The cost of a fire, together with death or injury is significant. The cost estimated for a single dwelling fire, and averages at £38k. If there are injuries or a death the social and economic cost escalates and some calculations use £1.7million for a death. The number of service users that were referred by ReFRS to the LFB for a Home Fire Safety Visit were 36 people. Therefore the total economic estimated preventable savings associated between £1,368,000- £612 million (London Fire Brigade, Redbridge Statistics)

Predicted cost savings (cont.) Falls Prevention Advice & Information ● Falls are common in older people due to other health problems, such are reduced vision, poor mobility and balance problems. ● A fall can cause a hip fracture if a person has osteoporosis. ● One in three people die within 12 months of fracturing their hip most deaths aren't caused by the fall itself but by pre-existing illnesses. It is estimated that the cost of one hip fracture is approximately £12,000. ReFRS identified 46 people over a period of one year who were referred to the Age UK for falls prevention advice and support. If we estimate that this information may have prevented the referred service users from falling, the cost benefit of this would be: £552,000 per annum.
