9 Costs of Industrial Action to the Workers 1. Lose wages 2. Lose bonuses, commission, overtime pay 3. If the business suffers a loss of sales, workers may be made redundant

10 Costs of Industrial Action to Customers 1. They are not able to buy the products they want 2. May have to pay higher prices if they buy from another business

11 Costs of Industrial Action to the Business 1. Cannot produce or sell so loses income 2. May make less profit 3. Customers may take their business to competitors

12 Costs of Industrial Action to the Economy 1. The Government will lose tax revenue 2. Imports may rise if people buy from abroad rather than British firms 3. Unemployment may rise

15 The workers and the employers agree that all workers will be represented by only one trade union

16 An employment tribunal is a special court set up to deal with disputes between workers and employers. Its job is to decide if the employer or employee has broken the law. Sometimes, but not always, the workers will be supported by a trade union. Employment tribunal’s deal with most of the laws relating to employment.

17 This organisation is set up to try and resolve issues between employers and employees before it gets to an employment tribunal.
