5 Influences on Behaviour Beliefs, knowledge, attitudes about the behaviour (Personal) Environmental/Social factors - culture, location, income Behavioural factors – habit, or pattern of behaviour

6 Activity: What influences your health behaviours?  Think of a specific behaviour and list personal, behavioural and environmental factors that influence this. Use separate post –its to add to flip charts around the room.  Discuss power & control to change  Explore barriers to change

10 Barriers The change is low priority or behaviour not perceived to be a risk Social, personal and environmental factors don't support change You feel you have 'tried and failed' Other people do not provide the support needed or could even sabotage change You feel under pressure to change - Persuasion You don’t feel in control of the change
