The Book Which We Call The Bible Contains The Word of God Lesson # 2 On This Subject

 The Bible contains irrefutable evidence that God, not only is, but that He has all of the following attributes.  Creator - He is omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent.  ASV Jeremiah 10:12 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding hath he stretched out the heavens:  ASV Jeremiah 51:15 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding hath he stretched out the heavens:  ASV Proverbs 3:19 Jehovah by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding he established the heavens.  ASV Genesis 1:31 And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

 The Bible contains irrefutable evidence that God, not only is, but that He has all of the following attributes.  Lawgiver – He is just, true and holy  ASV Deuteronomy 32:4 The Rock, his work is perfect; For all his ways are justice: A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, Just and right is he.  ESV John 3:33 Whoever receives his testimony sets his seal to this, that God is true.  ASV Leviticus 11:45 For I am Jehovah that brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

 The Bible contains irrefutable evidence that God, not only is, but that He has all of the following attributes.  Savior – He is Love, and is filled with mercy and grace.  ASV 1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.  ASV Ephesians 2:4-5 but God, being rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace have ye been saved),

 Now, let’s look at these attributes of God all on one slide.  Creator - omnipotent, omniscient, or all-wise and omnibenevolent  Lawgiver - just, true and holy  Savior - He is love, and is filled with mercy and grace  Since God is infinite, eternal and unchangeable, all His attributes are infinite, eternal, and unchangeable.

 Other areas in which God has truly shown Himself to be God are:  His power and foreknowledge in carrying out His providential care:  Joseph for more than 22 years.  Genesis 50:20 ASV And as for you, ye meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

 Other areas in which God has truly shown Himself to be God are:  His providence in keeping the Jewish people in existence:  ASV Jeremiah 4:27 For thus saith Jehovah, The whole land shall be a desolation; yet will I not make a full end.  ASV Jeremiah 30:11 For I am with thee, saith Jehovah, to save thee: for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have scattered thee, but I will not make a full end of thee; but I will correct thee in measure, and will in no wise leave thee unpunished.  NAS Jeremiah 46:28 "O Jacob My servant, do not fear," declares the LORD, "For I am with you. For I shall make a full end of all the nations Where I have driven you, Yet I shall not make a full end of you; But I shall correct you properly And by no means leave you unpunished.“  Assyria, Babylon and Rome are gone. God brought them to a full end, just as He promised, but the Jews still remain a people today and testify to the truthfulness of what God promised almost 3000 years ago!

 Other areas in which God has truly shown Himself to be God are:  The birth and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  It is commonly stated that more than 300 prophecies are fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ. I haven't counted all of them. But I have investigated a sufficient number to convince me that God indeed exists and that He exercises sufficient control over human events and affairs to fulfill the prophecies He made about Jesus Christ.  I consider myself a rational person who posses average intelligence. I would discredit my senses and abilities to the point I would be acting as a fool if I refused to accept the only logical and sensible conclusion that the many fulfilled prophecies so clearly and understandably proclaim. For me, God is, and the Bible is His inspired Word. But let’s look at a few more prophecies.

 Other fulfilled prophecies:  Birth of Isaac:  Both Abraham and Sarah were past the age of bearing children when God explicitly promised that Sarah would bear a child.  ASV Genesis 17:16-17 And I will bless her, and moreover I will give thee a son of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be of her. 17 Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?

 Other fulfilled prophecies:  This one speaks of the time being right for Jesus' birth.  ASV Galatians 4:4 but when the fulness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,  "The fulness of the time" refers to all conditions being right for Jesus' entry into the world as a man. Some of these conditions were:  The universal flood in Noah’s time, Gen 6-9  Confusion of languages at the Tower of Babel, Gen 11  God called Abram, Gen 12  God’s covenant with Abram, Gen 15  About 450 years later, his descendants became the nation of Israel.  God was also working with the pagan nations.  God raised world Empires: Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Meds-Persian, Macedonian or Greek, and the Roman. They all contributed in some way to God’s plan to bring Jesus Christ into the world.  God was busy controlling and ordering events in such a way that He could still justly hold man accountable for the kind of life he lived.  Example: The Roman Procurator, Pontius Pilate  These events reveal that God, in His providence, works out events in human affairs so that His plan is carried out to the desired end.

Our Next Class On This Subject Will present some fulfilled prophecies concerning the establishment of the Church
