5 FOOD IDEAS Visit a local food provider Investigate food miles and seasonality in class Maths/D&T Try recipes using only local ingredients Have a coffee morning for the community, with freshly made food! www.sustainablelearning.com

6 ENERGY IDEAS Conduct an energy audit and work out where your school can save power Visit a renewable energy site, e.g. a wind farm or solar powered building Try and create your own power, e.g. by building your own wind turbines, or using a bike to generate electricity Carry out spot-checks to find out which class switches off the most appliances. www.sustainablelearning.com

7 NATURE IDEAS Visit a local nature site, and do something helpful there- e.g. planting or litter picking Hold a BioBitz in your school grounds Every class to take part in at least one outdoor learning activity Build a bug hotel at school to give mini-beasts a happy home! www.sustainablelearning.com

8 TRANSPORT IDEAS Organise a ‘Walk to School’ day Conduct a transport audit to see how pupils travel to school, and work out what needs to be improved Host a ‘Bike it Breakfast’ or ‘Dr Bike’ sessions to teach pupils about bike maintenance www.sustainablelearning.com
