Quick Overview of SAP Regulations Definitions Policy Components Options for Non-Compliance of SAP Appeal Results Academic Plan Q&A

More flexibility for institutions to monitor SAP more frequently. Flexibility for institutions to establish their own policies. New Terminology Warning Probation Academic Plan

Financial Aid Warning A status assigned to a student who is failing to make SAP progress. The school reinstates eligibility for aid for one payment period and may do so without a student appeal. This status may only be used by schools that check SAP at the end of each payment period and only for students who were making SAP in the prior payment period. Financial Aid Probation A status assigned to a student who has successfully appealed and been approved. Eligibility for aid is reinstated for one payment period. Academic Plan A plan that will ensure that the student is able to meet the institution’s SAP standards by a specific point in time, or a plan that will take a student to program completion.

Grade Point Average (Institutional GPA) Undergraduate 2.0 Graduate3.0 Completion Rate (PACE – Institutional Hrs) Cumulative number of credit hours completed Cumulative number of credit hours attempted Maximum Hours(Institutional & Transfer Hours) 150% of degree program

When a student fails to meet SAP and has been placed on suspension, he/she has two options to regain eligibility for financial aid.  They may either make up deficiencies on their own. or  Submit an appeal that clearly explains the circumstances that caused the student to not meet SAP and what has since changed that will not allow them to meet it.

Financial Aid Probation We assign probation to students who we feel will be able to make up deficiencies within the next semester/term. Academic Plans We have a generic template that is used to customize a plan that will assist all in completing their degree.
