1 THE BLESSINGS OF THE CROSS
ROMANS 5

2 Romans 5:1-5 NIV Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

3 Romans 5:1-5 We have peace with God We have access to His grace
We have hope of glory We have Joy… because of His love in our hearts…no matter what we are going through, God works it all for the good of those who love Him (3-5) We are vessels of Holy Spirit

4 Romans 5:6-11 NIV Romans 5:6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! 10 For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

5 Romans 5:6-11 Jesus rescues us from our helplessness (v.6)
God demonstrates His love for us(v.8) We have been made right (justified) with God and will not face judgment (v. 9) We are friends with God, and will be saved because of His life in us and can be full of joy (v. 10,11)

6 Romans 5:12-18 NLT Romans 5:12 When Adam sinned, sin entered the entire human race. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. 13 Yes, people sinned even before the law was given. And though there was no law to break, since it had not yet been given, 14 they all died anyway-- even though they did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did. What a contrast between Adam and Christ, who was yet to come! 15 And what a difference between our sin and God's generous gift of forgiveness. For this one man, Adam, brought death to many through his sin. But this other man, Jesus Christ, brought forgiveness to many through God's bountiful gift. 16 And the result of God's gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man's sin. For Adam's sin led to condemnation, but we have the free gift of being accepted by God, even though we are guilty of many sins. 17 The sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over us, but all who receive God's wonderful, gracious gift of righteousness will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ. 18 Yes, Adam's one sin brought condemnation upon everyone, but Christ's one act of righteousness makes all people right in God's sight and gives them life.

7 Romans 5:12-18 Sin and death entered the world through Adam; and in him we are all guilty (v.12-14) Grace, righteousness, justification entered the world through Jesus (v.15-16) Now we reign in life – in victory because of Jesus! (v.17) Now we can truly live the life we were supposed to live – free of sin – free to be who we were destined to be

8 The message of the cross
NLT Genesis 3:15 From now on, you and the woman will be enemies, and your offspring and her offspring will be enemies. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.“ 1 John 3:8 But the Son of God came to destroy these works of the Devil.

9 Golgotha - Calvary

10 Sin defeated at the cross of Golgotha

11 We are cleansed from all unrighteousness (1John 1:7-9)

12 Satan is defeated NLT Revelation 12:9 This great dragon-- the ancient serpent called the Devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world-- was thrown down to the earth with all his angels. 10 Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, "It has happened at last-- the salvation and power and kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ! For the Accuser has been thrown down to earth-- the one who accused our brothers and sisters before our God day and night. 11 And they have defeated him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of their testimony. And they were not afraid to die.
