2 CO-ORDINATION Co-ordination of the planning, preparation, production, design and distribution of the Annual Report is one of the key functions of the Communications Department. 3 STATUTORY REQUIREMENT The production of an Annual Report is a statutory requirement. The Report details the work carried out by our Board during the year and the amount of money spent. 4 PRELIMINARY PLANNING Preliminary planning for the Report is carried out early in the year in conjunction with the Board’s Management Team. Preliminary planning for the Report is carried out early in the year in conjunction with the Board’s Management Team.

5 STRUCTURE The content of the Report is structured along the following lines:  Introduction, messages from the Chairman and Chief Executive, Board and Management Team members and Standing Committee memberships.  Population health status including demographic profile, communicable diseases and environmental health.

6 STRUCTURE (Cont’d)  Care Groups including Acute Hospitals, Community and Primary Care, Children and Families, Disability Services, Mental Health, Services for Older Persons, Alcohol and Addiction Services and Social Inclusion.  Health Promotion, the Cardiovascular Strategy, and Cancer and Palliative Care.

7 STRUCTURE (Cont’d)  Corporate Services includes Finance, Human Resources,Capital,Engineering and Property Services, Communications, FOI and Services Commissioned from EHSS.  A list of Voluntary Organisations supported by our Board appears at the back of the report with allocations itemised.

8 CARE GROUP CHAPTERS The Care Group Chapters are structured around the following key headings:  Introduction  Core Services  Service Developments  Monitoring and Evaluation

9 CARE GROUP CHAPTERS (Cont’d)  Public Health Section includes information on Environmental Health.  Acute Hospital Services includes information on St. Joseph’s Hospital, Raheny.

10 CARE GROUP CHAPTERS (Cont’d)  Community and Primary Care includes information on G.P., Dental and Orthodontic Services and the Community Welfare Service.  Children and Families chapter also includes sections on Domestic Violence and the Laragh Counselling Service.

11 CARE GROUP CHAPTERS (Cont’d)  Public Health Trends includes information on Smoking rates, Alcohol, Food and Nutrition, Breastfeeding, Exercise and Accidents.  Communicable Diseases includes information on MMR, Tuberculosis, Meningitis, Influenza, Sexual health and SARS.

12 Distribution The annual report (quantity 1700) will be widely distributed. Recipients will include local public libraries, local TDs and councillors, Interim Health Servies Executive, DOHC, members of the 3 Area Health Boards, EHSS & ERHA and their management teams, and hospital and nursing managers.
