2. Our goals To launch two pilot programs in the first year to learn how best to present a modified Stewardship Training Program outside the metropolitan Seattle/Everett area. The programs have three objectives: To produce a cadre of more knowledgeable persons to become Native Plant Stewards To train people to have a positive environmental impact in their communities To bring more active members into WNPS

3. The First Class in the New Format began April 5 in the Tacoma Nature Center

4. The Class has 27 students

5. The class is lead by Jim Evans

6. Immediate lessons The New Format allows us to reach people the we could not previously reach. There is demand! W e had 27 students but we had to turn away several more. Partnerships are very important! We had support from: Tacoma Nature Center Pierce County Master Gardeners Pierce County Conservation District

7. What Next? Evaluate the class outcomes and satisfaction of the students. Determine any changes we need to make to the process before we begin the next pilot in Wenatchee. Share lessons learned and material with the Master Steward’s Program Continue dialogue with partners such as Master Gardeners.
