5 Provide cadets with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop an efficient, effective and safe fitness program Generalize the principles and applications of personal fitness to unit physical training programs Prepare cadets to fulfill their role as officers in physical training D e p a r t m e n t o f P h y s i c a l E d u c a t i o n Course Purpose

6 D e p a r t m e n t o f P h y s i c a l E d u c a t i o n Course Objectives 1.Develop a Unit Physical Training Plan (UPTP) focused on a unit’s mission essential task list (METL) and Warrior Tasks & Battle Drills with emphasis on functional fitness 2.Execute platoon-level physical training that applies basic, sound exercise science/physiology concepts 3.Describe factors that impact unit fitness (e.g. special populations, unique environments, etc.) 4.Demonstrate individual fitness level via Cadet Fitness Challenge 5.Apply basic training variables and principles to unit fitness planning and execution (e.g. FITT and PROVIRRBS) 6.Describe basic cardio-respiratory and muscular fitness systems

10 Cadet Fitness Challenge The purpose of the CFC is to provide cadets with a personal assessment of the major components of fitness. Look at your Personal Fitness Data Worksheet The CFC is: Menu-driven (you get to decide!) Cadet administered – Cadet Honor Code in effect Motivational – multiple attempts are encouraged! Completed during this round of instruction Must score minimum points to get credit in an event D e p a r t m e n t o f P h y s i c a l E d u c a t i o n *Corps avg. ~80-83%; Only about 30 cadets in 250 pt. Club
